This book explores how AI-based applications may contribute to EFL learning, with particular attention to two interconnected concerns: improving speaking performance and reducing speaking anxiety. It does so from a perspective that is both hopeful and critical. The book does not approach AI as a simple technological solution, nor does it assume that innovation alone guarantees better learning. Rather, it considers AI as a pedagogical resource whose value depends on how well it responds to learner needs, speaking goals, emotional conditions, and educational contexts.
